Safari animal trail arrives in Rhyl for summer holidays

TWELVE life-size animal sculptures have gone on display in Rhyl as part of an animal-themed trail for families.

Rhyl BID took delivery of some very special cargo on Monday; curious residents spotted the huge animal characters - including a lion, giraffe and gorilla - arriving in the town on a trailer.

The trail is designed for residents and tourists alike and has been launched to help attract additional visitors to the town this Summer.

Visitors are encouraged to find the animals around the town and collect all of the animal’s names.

Abby Pilling, Rhyl BID Manager, said: "Well it’s not every day that you take delivery of safari animals. It was fabulous to see everyone’s reactions as we took the animals to their temporary homes in Rhyl.

"The Safari Trail is fun and entertaining for all ages and is free to take part in whilst also a great way of attracting more people into the town.

“We would encourage as many people as possible to complete the trail over the six-week period as there is also the opportunity to win weekly prizes and to also be entered into the big finale prize draw. All you need to do is post your completed entry form in the post box in either the Tourist Information Centre or Costigan’s Coffee.

"We can’t wait to see everyone’s photos too – remember to tag us on Facebook @RhylBID."

Safari crafts are also being offered. The next event will be on Tuesday, August 8 at Rhyl Library from 10.30am until 12pm.
