Dinosaurs will come alive in North Wales this weekend when the region’s own Jurrasic Park opens its doors. Following on from a successful debut last summer, Manorafon Farm Park, Abergele, is re-running its Dinosaur Adventure attraction.

The park, in Conwy, is promising some “exciting improvements” to what it bills as “quite possibly the biggest dinosaur experience in the North West”. New dinosaurs will be scaring unsuspecting visitors and a “panning for gems” area is being introduced.

Many of Manorafon’s dinosaurs will be life-size and animatronic, giving them an extra edge of realism. For the cute factor, there will be a chance to meet the park’s “Dino Babies" – Tegid the Pteranodon, Tryfan the Triceratops and Idwal the Parasaurolophus.

Sacha Dudley, marketing and sales manager, said the attraction virtually guarantees “perfect insta-pics”. She said: “Last year we got such positive feedback from visitors, so it will be great to see them return again. We’ve made some exciting new improvements this year, with a re-jigged event space layout, some new activities, and of course, some new dinosaurs to meet!”

As well as the exhibits, there will be a range of themed activities and shows. Back again this year is an “Explorers Trail” where youngsters can share their findings to receive a prize.

Always popular is the park’s Abra-Ca-Dino Magic Show, provided by local magician and kids entertainer Andy. Also making a return is a “Big Dig” tent, a giant sand pit filled with dinosaur bones awaiting discovery.

Tickets start at £12.95 each. This includes access to the farm park and its animals, and a new track-based ride.

Sacha said the event caters for everyone – “from 0 years to prehistoric”. She added: “Throughout the event there will be many photo opportunities, to get that perfect insta-pic or family photo for the memory books – it’s going to be a day to remember!”

The event is running from Saturday, July 22, to Sunday, September 3. Standard and Ultimate Passes are already on sale, and prebooking is advised.

Visitors can also explore the farm park and watch its activities. As well as pig racing, there’s a chance to meet the park’s reptiles, cuddle its rabbits and feed many of the farm animals.

Elsewhere, there’s an indoor play barn and a variety of outdoor play areas, including off-road pedal go-karts, jumping pillows and a giant climbing frame. Food and drink options are also available on-site. Last year Manorafon was named Attraction of the Year in the 2022 Go North Wales awards.
